ABOUT ILLUMINED CONNECTIONS

Illumined Connections is an online service for nonprofit and for profit organizations, their members and/or employees. Illumined Connections provides a suite of directories and services to enable organization members to network personally and professionally with other members. We also allow members to set up unique personal profiles and, through those profiles, Illumined Connections members ("Members") can view each others' profiles, communicate, share photos, advertise and seek employment, products, and services as well as make new friends on the Site through common interests.

To enrich our Members' experience, we request and display some personal information to other Members and visitors. This information allows our users to identify each other and expand their network of friends. Illumined Connections Members can change their profile information at any time and can control how other Members and Illumined Connections communicates with them.

WHAT INFORMATION IS GATHERED

We collect the information you give us when you become a Member of Illumined Connections Site.

Visitors

In general, you can browse parts of the site without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. If you choose to use our services, we may require you to provide contact and identity information, billing information, and other personal information as indicated on forms throughout the site. Where possible, we indicate which fields are required and which fields are optional. You always have the option to not provide information by choosing not to use a particular service or feature. Your failure or unwillingness to provide certain information may mean that a certain service or feature will not be available to you.

Browser and Other Information We May Collect

In addition to the information you choose to provide to us, Illumined Connections also collects and stores certain technical and other information about the online activities of our users-whether or not they are registered-on an aggregated (or collective) basis. This may include your IP address, browser type, and operating system. We track the number of people who view each page, and other site usage data, in order to learn which features are the most popular and thereby improve our service. We also record statistical information collected on our site to better understand our audience. This information is recorded as anonymous group statistical information and is not connected to any personal information that you provide as a member.

When you post content within a domain on the network, we and the administrators of each domain have the ability to view your IP address. We also collect the information that you provide when you make a post on one of our domains so that we can archive and display your posts. Please use caution when posting material on any domain as your posts may become immediately available to the public and may be recorded and stored by anyone.

Registered Members

When an authorized member of your organization applies for an Illumined Connections hosted network, we ask for a designated user name, password, email address, name, address, and phone number.

When an individual in an organization registers as a member, we ask you to provide us with a user name, password, e-mail address, name, birth year, and gender.

Web Logs

Like most standard Web site servers, we collect information from all visitors to the Site. The collected information may include the browser you are using, the internet address from which you linked to our Site, the operating system of your computer, the unique IP address of the computer you used to access our Site, and usage and browsing habits. We use this information to help diagnose and troubleshoot server malfunctions, to analyze trends, track user movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information. We may also use individual information we collect through web logs to send you targeted offers and other communications.

Cookies

To help ensure that you receive information that is relevant to you, our Site uses data "cookies." These cookies are small data files stored on your computer which identify you as a previous visitor to the Site and help us to personalize your experience when you arrive. Most web browsers are set to accept cookies. You can instruct your browser not to accept cookies. However, if you disable this function, you will not be able to use some of the features on our Site.

Web Beacons

Our Web pages contain "web beacons." Web beacons allow us to count users that have visited a web page or opened an email that contains a web beacon and collect other types of aggregate information. Using this information, we are able to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and how visitors use our Site. This allows us to learn what pages are most attractive to our visitors, which parts of our Site are the most interesting and what kind of offers our Members like to see. Some of the web beacons that are in place on our Site are used only by Illumined Connections, and other web beacons are from our vendors and advertisers who use this data to assist us in analyzing how our Members use the Site. In addition, we have agreements with various affiliate networks that promote Illumined Connections on their affiliate Web sites. These affiliate advertisers may use web beacons in their advertisements to track users who click through from the affiliate Web site to the Site.

HOW INFORMATION IS USED

We understand that you value your personally identifiable information. We generally use your personal information only to render services to you and to improve our services.

We may use your personal and registration information to: improve our services; troubleshoot problems; measure consumer interest in our products and services; inform you about online and offline offers, products, services, and updates; customize your experience; protect us against error, fraud, and other criminal activity; enforce our Terms of Use; and as otherwise described to you at the time of collection and in this policy. Illumined Connections may send you service-related announcements and emails from time to time. For example, if a friend sends you a message or someone comments on your photos, you may receive an email alerting you to that fact. If there are any important updates and communications about Illumined Connections we will communicate only to the designated contact person(s) at your organization, whose responsibility is to share such communications with organization members. Illumined Connections does not send unsolicited emails or newsletters.

Third-Party Use and Partner Site Email Communications

In the interest of bringing the highest quality services to you on a single site, Illumined Connections has partnerships with other Web-based services. Some of these arrangements include the sharing of some of your personal information with our partners in order to extend these services to you. We only share information when you specifically authorize it.

On occasion, we are able to offer you special products or services through a relationship with a third party. In those cases, the offer will be brought to you by Illumined Connections and fulfilled by the third party. If you accept the offer, you will become a customer of the company that is fulfilling the offer and we will not have control over their use of the personally identifiable information that you provide to them when you accept the offer.

Third-Party Sharing to Render Services to You

We may use third parties to help us perform services, like processing credit card information, transmitting emails in response to your requests, or other service-related functions. Our business is about building a long-term relationship with you. To build that trust, we know that as you spend time on our site, your personal information must remain within your control. In the event that Illumined Connections, or a portion of its assets, is acquired or merged with another company, personally identifiable information of our Members may be one of the assets sold or merged in connection with that transaction. Illumined Connections will notify users of the Site of such a change in ownership or transfer of assets by posting a notice on the Site.

Third-Party Ad Servers

To promote greater interaction, commerce, and increased business friendships among your organization members Illumined Connections encourages and gives preference to organization members to advertise on our display ad columns. However, if the display ad columns are not filled we may use ads from any Illumined organization members or third party advertising technology to serve ads on your Organization Network, or our other Networks. For instance, we may use Google AdSense or AdBrite, among others, to provide text and display advertisements on our Networks.

If your browser is set up to accept cookies, some of Illumined Connections' advertisers and partners, and possibly some of your organization member advertisers, may place cookies or web beacons on your computer when you visit our Site or interact with our email messages. Please note that this happens whether or not you click on an advertisement placed by these companies. Illumined Connections' advertisers and partners, and possibly some of your organization member advertisers, use cookies and web beacons according to their own privacy and security polices which you can find on their Web sites.

IMPORTANT DISCLOSURES, PRACTICES AND CONTACT INFORMATION

Illumined Connections contains links to other sites

It is possible for you to receive information directly from our partners and other companies if you access them through a link on illuminedconnections.com or if you go directly to their Web sites. Once you are on their sites, any data that you supply to these partners, for example, to obtain information or buy products directly from them is beyond our reach and will be the responsibility of each of the linked-to entities and not Illumined Connections. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these Web sites or any other sites linked to or referenced on our Site.

Security

Illumined Connections has multiple layers of security on its systems. We regularly review additional software upgrades to enhance our security measures. However, despite our efforts, no system can completely guarantee that there will never be unauthorized access to your personally identifiable information, and your use of the Site indicates that you are willing to assume this risk.

International Visitors

Like almost every Web site, Illumined Connections may be accessed by an international audience. By visiting our Web site and providing us with data, you acknowledge and agree that your personal information may be processed for the purposes identified in this policy. In addition, such data may be stored on servers located outside your resident jurisdiction, which may have more or less stringent privacy practices than your own. By providing us with your data, you consent to the transfer of such data.

Children's Privacy

We at Illumined Connections believe it essential that parents be involved in their children's online experiences. That is why, in compliance with federal law, we do not knowingly collect personal information of any kind from anyone under the age of 13. If we become aware of a user under the age of 13 providing information on our site, we will terminate their account and purge our databases of all information provided by that user.

Updating Your Personal Information

If you are an Illumined Connections Member, you can update your personally identifiable information at any time. To do this, just click on the "My Account" link after logging in. However, we are unable to update or delete any of your personally identifiable information that has been shared with a third party as permitted in this Privacy Policy.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

In the future, Illumined Connections may update and revise its privacy policy. We will provide conspicuous notice on our Web site if we decide to change our privacy policy in a way that would be materially less restrictive than this policy. At that time, you will have the opportunity to decide whether or not you would like Illumined Connections to apply the new privacy policy to your personal information or to opt out of the new policy. If you continue to use Illumined Connections, you will be accepting the new policies. If you decide to opt out of the new policy, you will no longer be able to participate as a member. The effective date of this policy is March 15, 2008.

Ultimately, you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords and/or any account information. Please be careful and responsible whenever you're online.
